Sexual Size Dimorphism
Males of Rana uenoi are smaller than females.
Snout-Vent Length
Males reach approximately 5–6.2 cm (2.0–2.4 in) in snout-vent length (SVL), while females reach approximately 6–7.6 cm (2.4–3.0 in) SVL.
Dorsal and Limb Coloration
Their base coloration is brown, with striped legs and dark tympana, the sensory structures located at the temple region of the head. Individuals sometimes have black dots on their back.
Abdomen Coloration
The abdomen is white, and it becomes yellowish closer to the posterior end.
Morphological Distinction from Related Species
Many small morphological features distinguish R. uenoi from Dybowski's frog; for example, R. uenoi has longer hindlimbs.
Habitat and Core Distribution
This species occurs in wooded habitats across the Korean Peninsula and its neighboring islands.
Occurrence in North Korea
While it is very likely present in North Korea, conclusive evidence confirming this occurrence is incomplete.
Japanese Distribution
It is also found on Tsushima Island, Japan.
