This species has a red-orange back, whitish flanks and belly, entirely yellow fins, and a distinct yellow longitudinal band running along its sides.

Geographic Distribution

Yellowfin goatfish are widespread across the Indo-Pacific region; their range extends from the Red Sea east to Hawaii and the Tuamotus, north to Japan, and south to Lord Howe Island.

Habitat and Depth Range

This is a reef-associated species that most commonly inhabits lagoons and seaward reefs, found at depths between 1 and 113 meters (3.3 to 370.7 feet).
