Mulloidichthys martinicus, commonly called the yellow goatfish or yellowsaddle, is a species of goatfish.
Atlantic Ocean Range
This species is native to the Atlantic Ocean, found off the coasts of Africa and the Americas.
Wider Distribution
It can also be found on reefs in tropical Pacific waters, in Atlantic waters around the United States, the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean Sea, and around Cape Verde.
Size
The maximum recorded total length of this species is 39.4 cm (15.5 in), and most individuals only grow to around 28 cm (11 in) long.
Human Relevance and Toxicity
Yellow goatfish are of minor importance to local commercial fisheries, but there are confirmed reports that this species can carry ciguatera toxin.
