Taxonomic Classification
The striated laughingthrush, currently classified as Grammatoptila striata, is a passerine bird that belongs to the family Leiothrichidae.
Taxonomic Revision
It was formerly classified in the genus Garrulax, but after a comprehensive molecular phylogenetic study was published in 2018, it was moved to become the only species in the resurrected genus Grammatoptila.
Geographic Range
This bird occurs in the northern temperate areas of the Indian subcontinent, with a range that covers Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Tibet, and Nepal.
Natural Habitats
Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.
