Anampses elegans, commonly known as the elegant wrasse, is a wrasse species first described by Ogilby in 1889.
Geographic Distribution
This species is native to the Pacific Ocean, ranging from Australia and New Zealand eastward to Easter Island.
Habitat and Depth Range
It prefers habitats in lagoons, and can also be found on coastal reefs at depths between 2 meters (6.6 feet) and 35 meters (114.8 feet).
Size
Adult Anampses elegans can grow to a maximum total length of 29 centimeters (11 inches).
Human Use
This species is sold in the aquarium trade.
