This is a species of wrasse that is native to the southwestern Pacific Ocean.
Geographic Range
Its native range extends from eastern Australia to New Zealand, and it is also found around Lord Howe Island, Norfolk Island, and the Kermadec Islands.
Habitat
This species lives on reefs and in offshore waters.
Depth Range
It can be found at depths from the surface down to 60 m (200 ft) deep.
Size
Males of this species can grow to a total length of 50 cm (20 in), while females only reach a maximum length of 30 cm (12 in).
