Common Name and Native Range
Amblyeleotris wheeleri, commonly known as the Gorgeous prawn-goby, is a goby species native to tropical reefs ranging from the Indian Ocean to the western Pacific Ocean.
Depth Range
This species occurs at depths between 5 and 40 meters (16 to 131 feet), though it usually does not live deeper than 15 meters (49 feet).
Commensal Relationship
It lives as a commensal of alpheid shrimps, and is most often found in association with Alpheus ochrostriatus.
Maximum Length
Fully grown individuals reach a maximum total length of 10 centimeters (3.9 inches) measured as standard length.
