Strobilanthes formosana S.Moore is a species of flowering plant belonging to the family Acanthaceae. It is native to Taiwan. This species is a perennial herb that grows up to 80 cm (31 inches) tall. It occurs naturally in forest ravines at elevations ranging from 700 to 2,300 m (2,300 to 7,500 ft). The Paiwan people have extracted a blue dye from the roots of this plant.
