Its geographic distribution ranges from the Seychelles and Réunion to the Ryukyu Islands, the Tuamoto Islands, and New Caledonia.
Habitat Types
Within this range, Stegastes albifasciatus occurs on reef flats, reef margins, and lagoons, growing on patches of rubble or reef rock that host live corals.

It is found particularly in areas that experience moderate water movement.
