About Diplacus bolanderi (A.Gray) G.L.Nesom
Diplacus bolanderi is a hairy annual herb that grows an erect stem, with maximum heights ranging between 2 and 90 centimeters. Its leaves are lance-shaped to oval, measure up to 6 centimeters long, and are arranged in opposite pairs along the stem. The base of each flower is enclosed by a hairy, ribbed calyx of sepals with pointed lobes. The flower itself has a tubular throat and a wide, five-lobed mouth. It measures 1 to 3 centimeters long, is pink in color, and usually has white blotches in its throat. This species is endemic to California. It grows in chaparral and other habitats in coastal and inland mountains and foothills, ranging from the North Coast Ranges to the Sierra Nevada to the Transverse Ranges.
