Adults of Crotalus pricei typically reach a maximum total length (including the tail) of 50–60 cm, which is approximately 20–24 inches. The longest confirmed total length ever recorded for this species is 66 cm, or 26 inches.
Base Coloration
Its base color can be gray, bluish-gray, brownish-gray, or a shade ranging from medium to reddish-brown, and it is usually covered in fine brown speckles.
Dorsal Blotch Pattern
Over this base color, there is a series of blotches along the back that are typically split along the midline of the body, resulting in 39–64 pairs of blotches.
United States Distribution
Crotalus pricei is found in the southeastern part of the state of Arizona in the United States.
Sierra Madre Occidental Distribution
In northern Mexico, it lives in the Sierra Madre Occidental across the states of Sonora, Chihuahua, and Durango.
Sierra Madre Oriental Distribution
It is also present in the Sierra Madre Oriental in southeastern Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas, with individual isolated records from the states of San Luis Potosí and Aguascalientes.
Type Locality
The species' type locality is recorded as Huachuca Mountains, located in Cochise County, Arizona, United States.
