Crenadactylus ocellatus (Gray, 1845), also commonly called the southwestern clawless gecko or western clawless gecko, is the smallest species of nocturnal gecko native to Australia.
Distribution Range
This species is endemic to Australia, and distributed across the country's southwest region.
Substrate and Terrestrial Habit
It can be found on stony ground, in Triodia-dominated deserts, and it is a ground-dwelling gecko.
Typical Habitat Types
Its typical habitats include leaf litter, rubbish piles, and areas beneath rocks.
Alternative Habitats
It is also sometimes found in the lower sections of hummock grass.
Taxonomic Naming Note
Note that the name western clawless gecko is also used for the separate species Crenadactylus occidentalis.
