Common and Scientific Names

The dusky frillgoby, whose scientific name is Bathygobius fuscus, is also commonly called the brown frillfin. It is a species of goby native to the Indo-Pacific region.

Geographic Distribution

Its distribution ranges from South Africa northward to the Red Sea, eastward as far as Tonga, southward to Australia, and northward to Japan.

Life Cycle Type

This is primarily a coastal species, but it has an amphidromous life cycle.

Habitat Range

It lives in estuaries, and will move into freshwater streams.
