This species occurs in shallow waters of the Red Sea, the adjacent western Indian Ocean, the Chagos Archipelago, Mauritius, the Marshall Islands, the Seychelles, southern Japan, and the Great Barrier Reef.
Habitat and Depth Range
It typically inhabits sandy substrates on reef flats, outer lagoons, estuaries, and bays, and can be found at depths down to 43 metres (141 ft).
