Geographic Distribution

This species is originally found on tropical reefs in the western Pacific Ocean, and it may also be widespread throughout the central Indo-Pacific area.

Habitat Preferences

It prefers habitats with muddy substrates, where it shelters inside invertebrate burrows.

Feeding Behavior

It feeds by sifting mouthfuls of sand to eat the organic matter and small invertebrates found within the sand.

Maximum Size

This species grows to a maximum total length of 9.5 centimetres (3.7 inches) measured along its standard length.

Human Use
