About Veronica aphylla L.
Veronica aphylla L. is a perennial herbaceous plant that grows to a height of 3 to 8 centimetres (1.2 to 3.1 inches). It produces one single erect, cylindrical, hairy, greenish flowering stem, and forms a basal rosette of green leaves. The leaves are elliptical or oval in shape, pubescent, and measure 8 to 15 millimetres (0.31 to 0.59 inches) long by 4 to 10 millimetres (0.16 to 0.39 inches) wide.
Its flowers have four light blue petals marked with darker nerves, and contain two long stamens. This species blooms from July to August. It is native to mountain regions of Central and Southern Europe, including the Alps, Jura, Carpathians, Iberian Peninsula, and the Balkans. Veronica aphylla grows best in alpine pastures, stony slopes, and rocky areas, at elevations between 1,500 and 2,800 metres (4,900 to 9,200 feet) above sea level.
