About Verbascum nigrum L.

Verbascum nigrum, commonly known as black mullein or dark mullein, is a species of biennial or short-lived perennial herbaceous plant in the mullein genus Verbascum. It is native to dry open sites in temperate Europe. This plant reaches a height of 0.5–1.5 m (1.6–4.9 ft). It forms clumps of leaves, from which multiple tall stems grow that bear yellow flowers with purple stamens. The flowers bloom over a long period through summer and into early autumn. It is cultivated as an ornamental plant, and grows best in calcareous or neutral soil in full sun.
