Distribution Range

It is native to Afghanistan, China, Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Russia.

Habitat

This squirrel lives in sandy steppes that contain Artemisia, glasswort, and tamarisk.

The soles of its hind feet are hairless, except for the heel area.
