Pseudolabrus miles, commonly known as the scarlet wrasse, is a species of wrasse that is endemic only to waters surrounding New Zealand.

Habitat and Depth Range

This species lives on reefs, and can be found at depths ranging from 4 to 40 metres, or 13 to 131 feet. Most individuals are found at depths deeper than 10 metres, which is 33 feet.

Size

Males of this species can reach a maximum standard length of 27.2 centimetres, or 10.7 inches, while females are slightly smaller, reaching 26.9 centimetres, or 10.6 inches in standard length.
