Penstemon laevigatus, commonly known as the eastern smooth beardtongue, is a flowering plant that belongs to the plantain family, Plantaginaceae. This species produces its flowers during the summer season. Its native native range covers a large portion of the Eastern United States, extending from Maine to Michigan in the north, and from Georgia to Mississippi in the south. It is able to grow successfully in both sunny and shady growing conditions.
