About Ophrys holosericea (Burm.f.) Greuter

Ophrys holosericea, commonly known as the late spider orchid, is a species of flowering plant belonging to the orchid family Orchidaceae. It is native to western and central Europe, as well as the Mediterranean region. There has been considerable confusion surrounding both the correct identity of this species and the correct spelling of its scientific name. This species is pollinated by Eucera bees; the flower of Ophrys holosericea mimics a female bee to deceive these bees into pollinating it.
