Nucras lalandii is a large, heavy-bodied species within its genus.
Size
Adult N. lalandii typically have a snout-to-vent length (SVL) ranging from 7.5 to 9.5 cm (3.0–3.7 in), and can reach a maximum SVL of just over 10 cm (3.9 in).
Geographic Range
This species is found in Eswatini, Lesotho, and South Africa.
Habitat and Altitude
Its preferred natural habitats are grassland, shrubland, and savanna, occurring at altitudes from sea level up to 2,300 m (7,500 ft).
Reproductive Mode
Nucras lalandii is oviparous.
Clutch Characteristics
Females lay clutches of 3 to 9 eggs, with each egg averaging 11 mm by 17.5 mm (0.43 in by 0.69 in).
Hatching and Hatchling Size
Eggs hatch in late January and early February, and newly hatched individuals measure approximately 8 cm (3.1 in) in total length including the tail.
