The Malagasy brush warbler (Nesillas typica), also called the Madagascar brush warbler, is a species of Old World warbler in the family Acrocephalidae.

General Distribution

It is a widespread species found in forest undergrowth, occurring primarily in Madagascar and the Comoro Islands.

Behavior

This bird is most often seen alone or in pairs, and only flies short distances because of its small wingspan.

Habitat Types

Its natural habitats include subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, and subtropical or tropical moist shrubland.

Broad Range

The species is distributed across eastern and northern Madagascar and the Comoro Islands.

Madagascar Habitat Details

In Madagascar, it lives in primary and degraded forests over calcareous substrates, as well as gardens, at all elevations.

Mohéli Habitat Details

In the Comoro Islands, it is found exclusively on forested ridges above 400 meters among dense evergreens on Mohéli.

Anjouan Habitat Details

On the neighboring Comorian island of Anjouan, it occurs in a range of habitats including dense forest undergrowth, plantations, coastal thickets, and wetlands.
