Microhyla fissipes is a small microhylid frog species.

Size Measurements

Males measure 22–27 mm (0.87–1.06 in) and females measure 25–28 mm (0.98–1.10 in) in snout-vent length, and tadpoles are correspondingly small at around 22 mm (0.87 in) in total length.

General Habitat Range

Microhyla fissipes is a common and widespread species that occurs across many habitat types, including lowland scrub forests, grassland, agricultural land, pastureland, and urban areas.

Substrate Preference

It has a sub-fossorial habit, and is also found in forest floor leaf litter.

Activity Pattern

It is mostly nocturnal, and is only active during the day in the rainy season.

Breeding Habitat

It breeds in rain pools and other still water bodies.

It tolerates habitat modification, and can also live on non-intensively farmed agricultural land.
