About Lupinus chamissonis Eschsch.

Lupinus chamissonis Eschsch. is a spreading, bushy shrub that reaches 1.5 to 2 metres (4 feet 11 inches to 6 feet 7 inches) in height. Its leaves are palmate, with each leaf composed of 5 to 9 leaflets that grow up to 2.5 centimetres (0.98 inches) long. All above-ground plant parts are covered in silvery hairs. Its inflorescence holds whorls of flowers, each flower measuring roughly 1 to 1.5 centimetres (0.59 inches) long. Individual flowers range in color from light purple to blue, and have a yellow spot on their banner petal. The fruit this species produces is a hairy legume pod that is 2.5 to 3.5 centimetres (0.98 to 1.38 inches) long.
