The Northwest Mexico leopard frog, scientifically named Lithobates magnaocularis, is a species of frog in the family Ranidae that is endemic to Mexico.

Habitat Type

It is a predominantly aquatic species, and inhabits both temporary and permanent pools in shrublands and mesquite forests.

Distribution Range

Its distribution extends along the Pacific slope of the Sierra Madre Occidental and the adjacent coastal plain, from southern Sonora state southwards to the Río Grande de Santiago valley, and it occurs at elevations ranging from sea level to 470 meters.

Potential Threat

It may be threatened by droughts.
