Liolaemus cyanogaster (Duméril & Bibron, 1837)

Nomenclature

Liolaemus cyanogaster, described by Duméril & Bibron in 1837, is commonly known as the cyan tree iguana.

Taxonomy

It is a species of lizard belonging to the family Liolaemidae.

Distribution

This species is endemic to Chile, where it is abundant across the range between Concepción and Puerto Montt.

Habitat

Its preferred natural habitats are grassland, shrubland, and forest, occurring at altitudes ranging from sea level up to 800 m (2,600 ft).

Reproduction

Liolaemus cyanogaster is viviparous, meaning it gives birth to live young rather than laying eggs.
