Nomenclature and Taxonomy

Leptobrachium hendricksoni, formally described by Taylor in 1962, has several common names: Thai spadefoot toad, bright yellow-eyed crawl frog, and spotted litter frog. It is a species of amphibian belonging to the family Megophryidae.

Distribution

This species is distributed in the Malay Peninsula, which includes southern Thailand and Peninsular Malaysia, as well as Sarawak on Borneo, and Sumatra in Indonesia.

Habitat

Its natural habitats are tropical moist lowland forests, rivers, freshwater marshes, and also adjacent plantations and heavily degraded former forests.

Conservation Status

Leptobrachium hendricksoni is currently threatened by habitat loss.

Size

In terms of size, males of this species reach a snout-vent length of 39–48 mm (1.5–1.9 in), while females grow to 52–80 mm (2.0–3.1 in).
