This species is distributed along the Gulf of Mexico coast, ranging from Veracruz, Mexico to Mississippi, United States.

In 2000, it was removed from the synonymy of Incilius valliceps.

Habitat Range

It can live in a wide variety of both natural and human-altered habitats, such as coastal prairies, barrier beaches, and human towns.
