This species is endemic to the mountain regions of Borneo, occurring in both Malaysia (specifically Sarawak and Sabah) and Indonesia (northern Kalimantan).

Terrestrial Habitat

Its natural habitats are submontane and montane forests, and it lives on the forest floor.

Breeding Habitat

Breeding for this species occurs in clear, rocky mountain streams.

Threats

It faces threats from habitat loss, including the siltation of the streams required for its larval development, and the clearing of forests for cultivation.
