Sclerophrys gutturalis, commonly called the guttural toad, is a large toad species.
Size
Males reach a maximum snout-to-vent length of 90 mm (3.5 in), while females grow up to 120 mm (4.7 in).

Its upper body is buffish brown, covered in variable, irregular dark brown markings.
Dorsal Marking Patterns
Two pairs of brown spots between the eyes form a cross-shaped mark, and a pale stripe often runs down the toad’s spine.

The arms have a fringe of distinctive white tubercles along their edges, and a red patch occurs on the back of the thighs.
