About Iberolacerta bonnali (Lantz, 1927)
Size
Iberolacerta bonnali, commonly known as the Pyrenean rock lizard, reaches a snout-to-vent length of 6 cm (2.4 in), and its tail is roughly twice the length of its snout-to-vent measurement.
Dorsal Coloration
This lizard has a greyish-brown dorsal colour, which is sometimes finely flecked with dark markings but does not have prominent striping.
Flank Coloration
Its flanks are dark, and may occasionally have faint pale flecking.
Ventral Coloration
The underparts of the lizard can be white, greyish, or greenish.
Geographic Range
The Pyrenean rock lizard occurs in France and Spain, within the Pyrenees Mountains, at altitudes ranging from 1,700 to 3,000 metres (5,600 to 9,800 ft).
Habitat Substrate
Its natural habitats are rocky crags and screes located in regions of limestone, slate, and schist.
Habitat Microhabitat
It is often found on rocks near alpine meadows, torrents, and glacial lakes.
Activity Pattern
It is only active for a brief period each year during the summer.
Reproduction
I. bonnali is an oviparous species.
