Histiogamphelus briggsii, also known as Brigg's pipefish or crested pipefish (along with other common names), is a species of marine fish belonging to the family Sygnathidae.

Depth Range & Geographic Distribution

This species occurs in shallow waters up to 30 meters (98 feet) deep, around the coasts of South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, and Northern Tasmania.

Habitat Types

Its natural habitats include reefs, seagrass beds, sandy beaches, and estuarine environments.

Maximum Size

Members of this species can reach a maximum total length of 25 centimeters (9.8 inches).

Reproduction

Histiogamphelus briggsii is an ovoviviparous species: males brood the eggs and give birth to live young.
