Hemidactylus palaichthus Kluge, 1969 is a species of gecko. Its common names include the Antilles leaf-toed gecko, the Maria Islands leaf-toed gecko, and the spiny gecko.
Distribution Range
This species is distributed across northern South America and the Lesser Antilles. It is found on small offshore rocks and islets near Saint Lucia, Trinidad, and Tobago, but does not occur on the main islands of these locations.
Habitat Types
Hemidactylus palaichthus lives in tropical savannas, dry forests, and rainforests. It can also survive in disturbed habitats including scrubby second growth, isolated vegetation such as palms and logs in pastures, and human villages, where it lives on walls and posts.
Conservation Status
It is common across portions of its range and does not currently face any major threats.
