Geographic Distribution

This species is distributed across southern Thailand (Satun, Narathiwat, Pattani), Singapore, western Malaysia (Pulau Pinang, Perak, Pahang, Selangor, Pulau Tioman), Myanmar (also called Burma), India (Nicobar Islands), and Indonesia (Borneo, Sumatra, Pulau Nias, Java).

Type Locality

Its type locality is "Prince of Wales' Island", which corresponds to Pulau Pinang in West Malaysia.

Preferred Habitat

The species' preferred natural habitat is forest.

Reproductive Clutch Details

For reproduction, sexually mature female G. smithii produce clutches of two eggs.

Egg Characteristics

The eggs are nearly spherical, with an average measurement of 20 x 19 mm (0.79 x 0.75 in).
