Common Name and Taxonomy
Eupsophus altor, commonly called Oncol's ground frog, is a species of frog that belongs to the family Alsodidae. This species is endemic to Chile.
Habitat
It inhabits Valdivian rainforests, where individuals have been found under rotting logs or moving among vegetation at night. Recorded elevations for this frog range from 42 to 650 meters above sea level.
Occurrence in Protected Areas
It has been observed in several protected areas associated with Forestal Arauco.
Reproductive Period
Observed egg clutches and tadpoles occur from May to September, with tadpoles recorded as late as October.
Tadpole Development Site
Tadpoles of this species develop in terrestrial nests on the ground, underneath logs, or in water-filled holes in trees.
