Drosanthemum speciosum, commonly known as royal dewflower, is a succulent plant belonging to the ice plant family Aizoaceae.

Native Distribution

It is native to the Montague District, located in the southern part of South Africa's Cape Province.

Staminode Whorl Count

Its flowers bear two whorls of staminodes.

Inner Staminode Characteristics

The inner whorl contains approximately thirty very short staminodes that are almost black in color.

Outer Staminode Characteristics

The outer whorl holds around sixty long staminodes that are bright orange.
