It is native to the Indo-West-Pacific region, where it lives near coasts on silty or sandy reefs, at depths ranging from 3 to 15 metres, which is equivalent to 9.8 to 49.2 feet.

Symbiotic Relationship

This species forms a symbiotic relationship with alpheid shrimps.

It can grow to a total length of 10 centimetres, or 3.9 inches.
