About Chorizema aciculare (DC.) C.A.Gardner
Chorizema aciculare (DC.) C.A.Gardner is an erect or spreading shrub that usually reaches a height between 0.15 and 1.0 meters (5.9 inches to 3 feet 3.4 inches). Its leaves measure 8 to 28 millimeters (0.31 to 1.10 inches) long, and have edges that are rolled under. For the nominal subspecies, C. aciculare subsp. aciculare, this rolled edge structure obscures the lower surface of the leaf. C. aciculare subsp. aciculare produces pink or orange flowers, while flowers of C. aciculare subsp. laxum are most often pale yellow or orange. This species grows mostly in woodland or coastal kwongan habitats, found on granite outcrops, undulating plains, ridges, or coastal dunes. It has a widespread distribution across the south-west of Western Australia, ranging from near Geraldton to Israelite Bay.
