Size and Body Shape
Perinet chameleons (Calumma gastrotaenia) are small, slender chameleons that grow to lengths of 15 to 20 cm, with elongated heads and bodies.
Skin and Base Coloration
Their skin is smooth, and can be uniformly green, brown, or yellow, with a white underside.
Body Stripe Pattern
A thin stripe runs from the base of the tail along the sides of the body, across the eyes, and this stripe may have white spots.
Subspecies Distinction
There are three recognized subspecies: C. g. andringitraensis, which has a dorsal crest; C. g. marojezensis; and C. g. guillaumeti.
Sexual Dimorphism
Males are larger than females, and males also have a bony crest on the head.
