The black-fronted titi monkey (Callicebus nigrifrons) is a species of titi, a type of New World monkey. It is a small diurnal primate.

Pelage and Coloration

Its body is covered in grey to brown fur, with black fur concentrated around its face, and its tail is slightly orange in color.

Adult Size and Weight

Adult body weight ranges from 1 to 2 kilograms (2.2 to 4.4 lb), and head-body length measures around 270 to 450 millimeters (11 to 18 in). This species does not show sexual dimorphism.

Lifespan

Captive individuals of this species can live up to 12 years of age.

Distribution and Home Range

The black-fronted titi is endemic to the Atlantic forest region of Brazil, and its average home range spans 20 hectares (49 acres).

Habitat Preference

It is an arboreal species that prefers the middle to upper canopy of the forest.

Forest Floor Activity

However, it will sometimes move to the forest floor to forage, travel, and play. Play behavior on the forest floor between black-fronted titis and marmosets has been documented in Brazil.
