About Buddleja loricata Leeuwenb.
Buddleja loricata Leeuwenb. grows as a large, bushy shrub that reaches less than 4 meters in height. Its leaves are arranged oppositely, shaped narrowly oblong-elliptic, and grow less than 9 cm long by 2 cm wide. The upper surface of the leaves is wrinkled and dark green. The small flowers carry a honey scent, are pale cream in color with a dull orange throat, and grow in clustered terminal heads from mid-autumn through winter. This species is hardy when grown in the United Kingdom, and is considered easy to cultivate. It tolerates heat, drought, and cold, and needs very little pruning to keep its shape. The shrub is included in the NCCPG National Collection of Buddleja, which is held by Longstock Park Nursery near Stockbridge, England. Its recommended hardiness range is USDA zones 7–9.
