Buddleja cordobensis Griseb. is a dioecious, densely branched shrub that grows 1–2 meters high, and has grey fissured bark.

Its young branches are terete and tomentose.

It bears coriaceous, ovate leaves that are 2–8 cm long by 0.5–2 cm wide.

Leaf Surface and Petioles

The leaves are thickly tomentose on both surfaces, and grow from 0.5 cm petioles.

Inflorescence Structure

Its deep yellow inflorescences consist of one terminal globose head and fewer than 9 pairs of additional globose heads.

Flower Head Dimensions and Count

Each head measures 0.6–1 cm in diameter, and holds between 12 and 25 flowers.

Corolla Tube Length

The corolla tubes of the flowers are 3–4 mm long.

Species Relationships

This species is considered to be closely related to B. araucana and B. aromatica.

Cultivation Status

This shrub is not known to be cultivated in the UK.
