Bolitoglossa altamazonica (Cope, 1874)

Adult Size

Adult Bolitoglossa altamazonica measure 31–48 mm (1.2–1.9 in) in snout–vent length, and their tails are almost as long as their snout–vent length.

Colouration

This species has variable colouration: most individuals have darker dorsal and lateral surfaces than their ventral surface, but some individuals have light streaking and mottling on the dorsal surface, while others have uniformly dark colouration on the dorsal surface.

Habitat

The natural habitat of Bolitoglossa altamazonica is lowland rainforest, where it lives on low vegetation.

Population Abundance

It is a locally common species across its entire range.

Local Threats

Locally, it is threatened by habitat loss driven by agricultural activities and tree planting.
