About Acmispon denticulatus (Drew) D.D.Sokoloff

Acmispon denticulatus, previously classified as Lotus denticulatus, is a species of legume. Its common name is riverbar bird's-foot trefoil. This plant is native to western North America, ranging from British Columbia through California to Utah, where it grows in moist spots across a number of habitat types. It is an annual herb that grows either erect or spreading, reaching a maximum length of about 40 cm. Its stems are lined with leaves, each composed of a few alternately arranged oval leaflets. These leaflets are 1 to 2 cm long, and sometimes have a slightly hairy texture. The inflorescence holds one or two whitish to yellowish pealike flowers, which grow from leaf axils. The fruit produced is a hairy legume pod that reaches up to about 1.5 cm in length.
