Vachellia haematoxylon has the common English names gray camel thorn and giraffe thorn. It is also known by multiple Afrikaans names: vaalkameeldoring, basterkameeldoring, and basterkameel, and by the Sotho name Mokholo. This is a protected tree species, native to central and southeast Namibia, southwest Botswana, and the Northern Cape province of South Africa.
