Trichostema fruticosum K.S.McClell., 2023 is a short-lived perennial plant. It has a bushy to diffuse growth form, and reaches approximately 1.25 meters (4 feet) in height. Young stems are square in cross-section, become cylindrical as they age, and are covered in fine hairs. Its leaves are ovate with smooth entire margins, have an obtuse apex (rarely rounded), and a cuneate to attenuate base. This species typically flowers and produces fruits between April and December. This plant occurs in the lower southern coastal plain of Georgia, the coastal plain of Florida, coastal Mississippi, and coastal Alabama. It grows most often in open areas of mesic to semi-dry habitats, and is most commonly found near shorelines.
