About Thunbergia mysorensis (Wight) T.Anderson ex Bedd.
Thunbergia mysorensis (Wight) T.Anderson ex Bedd. often reaches 6 metres (20 ft) and has long narrow medium green leaves. This vine produces dramatic, very large pendent hanging blossom clusters, with individual flowers shaped in a bold curve. Flower color adds to this striking look: blooms are a rich saturated yellow, with maroon to brownish red coloring on their outer tips. The vine flowers from spring through autumn. In cultivation, Thunbergia mysorensis is grown as a popular ornamental plant in tropical and subtropical gardens, conservatories, and greenhouses. It grows quickly in frost-free temperate climates like coastal Southern California, with its flowers draping down from pergolas and other garden structures. Its sweet nectar attracts sunbirds, a group of very small passerine birds, and hummingbirds. This plant has earned the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
