Common Names and Classification

Sphaerodactylus grandisquamis, commonly called the big-scaled dwarf gecko, big-scaled least gecko, or cotton ginner, is a species of lizard belonging to the family Sphaerodactylidae.

Endemic Range

This species is endemic to Puerto Rico.

Taxonomic Elevation

It was originally classified as a subspecies of Sphaerodactylus macrolepis, but was elevated to full species status based on combined molecular and morphological data.

Subspecies Synonymization

The previously recognized subspecies Sphaerodactylus g. phoberus is no longer considered valid, and has been synonymized with Sphaerodactylus grandisquamis.
