About Sphaeralcea munroana (Douglas ex Lindl.) Spach
Sphaeralcea munroana (Douglas ex Lindl.) Spach is a species of flowering plant in the mallow family, with common names Munro's globemallow and Munro's desert-mallow. This species is native to the western United States, where it occurs in the Great Basin and surrounding areas. It grows in sagebrush habitats, desert flats, and mountain slopes, and needs abundant sunlight to grow well. This perennial herb grows erect stems reaching up to approximately 80 centimetres (31 inches) tall from a thick root system. The plant has a woolly texture and is gray-green in color. Its alternately arranged leaves bear triangular blades up to 6 cm long, which usually have large lobes along their edges and a toothed margin. Flowers grow in clusters on a raceme-like inflorescence. Each flower has five apricot to red-orange petals that measure just over 1 cm long.
